What to do after a hail storm

This checklist helps you move fast and avoid missed damage. If you’re unsure, start with photos — we can guide the next step.

Within the first hour

  1. Safety first: confirm everyone is safe and move to covered parking if possible.
  2. Quick photos: capture wide shots of all sides plus roof/hood/trunk.
  3. Note the time: storm time/date helps with claims and documentation.

What to check on the vehicle

  • Roof, hood, trunk (most common impact zones)
  • Body lines near braces (damage can hide in shadows)
  • Glass, lights, trim, and mirrors (chips/cracks)

How to take better hail photos

  1. Use angled light: early/late sunlight shows dents best.
  2. Two distances: 6–10 feet away and close-ups.
  3. Repeat panels: roof/hood/trunk from multiple angles.

Next 24–48 hours

  1. Get an estimate: submit details on our Free Estimate page.
  2. Decide on a repair method: PDR when appropriate helps preserve factory finish.
  3. Plan scheduling: choose a time that fits your week and transportation needs.
